The delay followed intense debate over impartiality and the impact on the Morrison investigation. Housing aid bill advances in Kansas legislature
The House Appropriations Committee moved a bill to provide 4 million in housing grants over three years for federally declared disaster areas with later expansion to rural communities. Funding shifts to state taxes, not future gambling revenues, amid budget concerns. Local officials in Greensburg backs the program to rebuild tornado damaged housing as Kansas faces a statewide housing crisis. Storms last year damaged or destroyed over 3,000 homes. $5 million previously allocated is exhausted.
