Kansas notes backlog in testing old sexual assault kits
State logging untested kits for Kansas Bureau of Investigation will send kits from swabs hair and clothing to the forensic lab at Washburn University opened 2015 then to regional labs for testing DNA profiles to link offenders. Victim support groups warn testing years later can disrupt or vindicate survivors as SAKI aims to inventory and reduce delays.
