Transportation cuts may hit Garden City area hard
President Trump's proposed 2.4 billion cuts to federal transport programs would end subsidies for long distance trains and rural air service. The plan would scrap the TIGER program and Essential Air Service, threatening Amtrak through western Kansas and small communities like Garden City. Finney County EDC president Lona DurVall warns reduced funding could curb growth and private investment opportunities.

Trump proposes deep transportation cuts in rural areas
President Trump calls for 2.4 billion dollars in federal transportation cuts affecting air and rail service and road projects. The plan removes air traffic control from FAA to a private nonprofit, ends subsidies for long distance trains and rural flights, freezes urban transit grants, and ends a trail and streets grant program.
