The Garden City USD 457 Board debated parliamentary procedure then voted to allow students to have regular cell phones without cameras, after correcting minutes that had asserted a ban. The board ultimately reverted to the prior policy from last April, banning camera phones but leaving discretion to administrators.
USD 457 Board of Education awarded Rhoads Construction a 1,369,900 bid with 10,400 to Tatro Plumbing for window glazing to cover the courtyard at Garden City High School. Including architectural fees, the total rises to 1,486,967, nearly double early estimates. Only Bruce Reichmuth voted against the measure, saying costs have become too expensive.
