Connecticut taps Bremby for social services chief role
Governor Malloy named Roderick L. Bremby, former Kansas health and environment secretary, to lead Connecticut's Department of Social Services a $6 billion agency serving over 700000 people. Bremby blocked Sunflower Electric coal plants in 2007 citing health and environmental concerns, a stance that drew legal action but upheld by lawmakers and his successor. He left Kansas in 2009 and later served as transition director before Brownback took office.
