Kansas Senate panel backs most Brownback school aid cuts
A Kansas Senate panel endorsed most of Gov. Sam Brownback's proposed cuts to public school aid. The Ways and Means Committee moved about 4 million within the Department of Education budget and added 6 back to base per pupil, reducing base aid to 3,786 dollars per student. The plan also directs half of any new 2011 revenue above the forecast to be used for schools as February revenue trails forecasts.
