Eric Fabian, 42, of Independence, faces a felony cruelty to animals count after allegedly beating his dog in a Garden City Sunflower Inn & Suites hotel room. Police say he was intoxicated, refused to leave, and the dog later died from injuries. Fabian is held on a $5,000 bond at Finney County Jail.
Tuesday arrests include Victor Villanueva Rocha 28 of Lakin on DUI and no license charges at East Fulton Street block 1500. Also Joshua Patterson 17 of 4101 East US Highway 50 Lot 504 charged with battery and minor consumption and released to treatment. Other detentions include Zachary Isley 21 of 510 Inge Ave on interference with officer battery and two warrants. Municipal warrant for Washawn Lecomer Telfair 86 of 305 1/2 Washington Street. Isaac Joel Haynes 27 of Holcomb for arrest and detain order at Community Corrections.
At 2:23 a.m. at Salon Primaveras a person punched another. At 10 p.m. a knife was used in a North 11th Street incident. Sixto Pena 48, was arrested for criminal trespass and theft. William Lundy 50, was arrested for probation violation and related offenses. Filiberto Rodriguez 51, faced charges including DUI and open container. Andrew Korbe 19 was arrested for DUI. Investigation continues in both assaults.
Policy requires obituaries to be submitted by 9 p.m. Sunday through Friday for inclusion in the next day's editions. It notes the deadline and applicability to policy notices and newspaper submissions.
At 1 33 a m in the 800 block of JC Street a person entered an unlocked vehicle and attempted to steal items from inside. No loss reported.
