Outgoing lawmaker no longer with group in Kansas funding case
AP reports that Rep. Patricia Kilpatrick of Overland Park faces a $4,000 fine for filing inaccurate and incomplete campaign finance reports in 2004 and 2005. Kilpatrick cites personal hardship and an abusive relationship as factors, says she sought a new job and did not seek re election. The same dispatch notes Eaton Corp may close its Hutchinson plant, affecting about 450 workers, pending a final decision after union talks. A separate Kansas trial covers Gregory Moore, accused of killing Deputy Kurt Ford and wounding an officer in January 2005, with the defense framing the act as a “perfect storm.” The Finney County Friends of the Library meeting for 10 a.m. Saturday is canceled and will be rescheduled.
