Four area students honored at Pittsburg State and state awards

May commencement at Pittsburg State University included Cynthia Yoder from Garden City Paul Fraley from Dighton Javey Espino from Deerfield and Brigit Hesser from Montezuma earning bachelor and master degrees Sydney Bellows of Garden City top one percent in high school and recognized at the 32nd Governor's Scholars Awards Program in Topeka with Gov. Sam Brownback presiding The program was coordinated by the private funded Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force.

Area students shine on HCC honor rolls and Youth Entrepreneurs

Hutchinson Community College honors four area students with a 4.0 GPA on the President's Honor Roll. Garrett Miller and Shannon Pool earn top distinctions while two Garden City High School students reach the national final of Youth Entrepreneurs in Wichita. Desiree Ortiz and Reagan Swank, regional winners, receive up to 1000 for education or business capital. Spence Byer, Cimarron, graduates cum laude from Creighton Heider College of Business with a B.S. in business administration at May ceremonies in Omaha.
