AG Urges Brownback to Veto Budget Items in Kansas

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt urges Governor Sam Brownback to veto two budget items he says would burden his office. The procedural budget sets 14.5 billion for two fiscal years and Brownback faces a Sunday deadline to act before Paris travel. Schmidt opposes diverting 600000 from concealed carry permit fees and a salary cap on state agencies that would hinder federal and fee funded programs. The governor may veto line items or seek a supplementary budget next January to restore higher education funding.
