Florence Life of Garden City was named mayor of Osage at Sunflower Girls State in Lawrence joining peers Elvira Valentina of Pottawatomie as precinct committeewoman and other Southwest Kansas girls in tied offices. The courthouse closed tomorrow afternoon for the funeral of Mrs. Mary M. Bland. Pvt. Gerald J. Fief, son of James and Mary Fief, serves in Germany with the 57th Tank Battalion after enlisting in March 1954 and training at Camp Chaffee. Two teens were released after a police warning for attempting to break into Abraham Maus’ office on North Main.
