Concealed Handgun Carry Class Offered at GCCC
The Garden City Community College Department of Public Safety hosts an eight hour course for Kansas residents seeking state concealed carry licenses. The July session runs from 7 30 a m to 5 p m June 20 in the John Collins Building, co sponsored by the Sand and Sage Rifle and Pistol Club. The $125 fee covers firearm safety legal issues and citizen responsibilities with law enforcement. Pre registration is required and space is limited. Contact Liza Paulson at 276 9 for information.

Researcher to present findings on Garden City culture
Molly DesBaillets of the University of Kansas Anthropology Department will present her research on Garden City's cultural pluralism and social capital at 10 a.m. on June 13 at the Finney County Historical Museum. The talk covers demographic shifts from the beef-packing industry and a majority-minority community with limited social capital networks. An interpreter will be present during the program.
