Across the Tyson Fresh Meats facility near Holcomb groups of ranchers students and beef enthusiasts gathered to view six rows of carcasses in a Carcass Show. Judges evaluated prime choice and select grades while attendees compared animals to judging charts. Winners were announced later in the day with enthusiasts hoping to improve next year.

More than 80 attendees from southwest Kansas enjoyed a five course beef themed dinner at five restaurants. The event ran 4:30 to 9 p.m. with wine tastings at three spots and desserts at the Arts Center on Main. Venue highlights included Lone Star Steakhouse, Wheat Lands Restaurant, Southwind Country Club, and Garden City Plaza Hotel. Dining included beef crostini, basil beef meat balls, steak soup, steak fries salad, and Steak Savannah main course. Local painter Brent Learned showcased Native American art at the Arts Center, sharing the hope his work offers a new experience and cultural appreciation.
