Sherman Lee Beal 21 Wichita fatally after a car hit a culvert and pole near Wichita. Phillip Parr 3 Chandler Ariz in a single car west of Neal.
The condition of 16 year old Joan Kliesen daughter of Mr and Mrs Larry Kliesen remained unchanged over the weekend. She is still listed as serious by the attending physician. It would be a week or 10 days before it will be known if she is out of danger after a one car crash early Memorial Day morning.
Residents of Mustang Oklahoma, a town of about 210, found wreckage after twin tornadoes touched down briefly. Weather observers said if the funnels had moved lower, damage and loss of life would have occurred, but there were no injuries reported.
Flood waters from record snowpacks threaten the Columbia River and its tributaries in the Pacific Northwest. About 1,000 people evacuated as land floods spread, with a 27 foot crest forecast at Vancouver and dikes held near 28 feet. A beaver-levee leak flooded 1,600 acres, 12 families evacuated. no injuries reported.
E. J. Camp says 14 to 16 year olds with restricted licenses may not drive without a licensed adult except 7 am to 6 pm on school days via the most direct route to school or for farm chores. Police Chief Geisler urges parents to enforce limits. Violations bring fines and license loss until age 16.
A 1956 model car driven by Austin Lynn Lowry of Wichita collided with a truck on US 50 at the west city limits Sunday night. Damage to the car was about $1,000. the truck suffered no injuries. Investigating troopers said Lowry tried to pass while Bobby Dale Eichenauer, South Star Route, attempted a left turn with the truck. Time of the accident was 6:50 pm. The truck is owned by William K. Armstrong.

Four-H club members and leaders from 10 area counties will attend a crops judging school in Garden City tomorrow. About 100 people expected, with starting time at 10 am in the home economics building at the fairgrounds. MEADE Kas Two young women driving to the East Coast were killed Saturday in a traffic accident near here. The victims were Lola D Annunzio and Mrs Phyllis Palumbo both 26. Palumbo s fouryearold son John Paul escaped with minor injuries. Police said the driver apparently went to fire. The auto overturned on U Highway 54 about seven miles from here.
Washington reports the Supreme Court, in a 6-3 decision, upholds Taft Hartley limits on picketing and related labor actions during strikes, with Justice Reed delivering the majority opinion. Dissent by Justice Douglas joined by Warren and Black. Details include a Kohler Wisconsin plant strike and other rulings on employment, public policy, and regulatory authority. Names include Kohler Co. workers and the Hawaiian Pineapple Co. damages case.
Nearly 1000 acres across Finney Gray and Gray counties are auctioned this week. Foremost properties include 640 acres in Gray County with irrigation wells and improvements. Separate sales cover land south of Garden City near Charleston and parcels in the Armstrong and Mattie Gerdes estates. Sale times begin 9 am and 2 pm with immediate possession on nonwheat tracts and post harvest possession for wheat lands.
