Sunday morning at the Horse Palace Milton Thomas organizes Cutting Horse Competition drawing about 100 cowboys from multiple states, with six classes and belt buckles as prizes.

Brookover Honored by Beef Empire Days for Cattle Leadership
The 1981 Beef Empire Days program dedicates the honor to Earl C. Brookover, a 30 year pioneer of commercial cattle feeding. A Western Kansas native, Brookover built Brookover Feed Yards, developed land across multiple counties, led Southwind development near Garden City, and earned the National Beef Feeder and KSU Distinguished Service awards. He and wife Denelda have four children.
