Kansan lawmakers travel to national conferences on lean budgets
Twenty five Kansas legislators and eight staffers travel to the National Conference of State Legislatures in San Francisco this week with a $410 registration fee per legislator, $78.75 daily salary and up to $500 expenses, while travel budgets remain tight for 2003 and 2004. The group estimates 6,000 attendees this year, far from past levels, as ethics and campaign funding rules govern reimbursements and sessions cover education, sales tax and governance.
