Garden City police officials announced a new crematory inside the Finney County Garden City Animal Shelter to dispose of euthanized cats and dogs. It will be operational in coming weeks with staff training underway and potential public cremation services and pet urns under consideration. The $32,283 unit is funded by county and city police budgets, and about 80 to 100 animals are euthanized monthly at the shelter.
