Healy Co-op shuts its 86 year old Farmers Store and Deli
The Healy Cooperative will close The Farmer's Store and Deli this Saturday after 86 years serving a town of 300. The loss hits elderly residents who used the gathering place for meals, socialization, and gossip. Shoppers will travel 18 to 24 miles for groceries as drought and farming downturns strain the co-op. Managers hope for a last minute buyer at the closing sale with a free lunch.
