Holcomb ISO fire rating rises to top 10 percent
Holcomb will see lower homeowner insurance as its Public Protection Classification improves from seven to four effective in April. Fire Chief Bill Knight said the upgrade places Holcomb in the top 10 percent of Kansas municipalities, with potential savings of about 50 dollars per year on a 100000 dollar home and up to 30000 dollars annually for all homeowners combined. Knight noted room for further improvement, especially in volunteer firefighter training. Mayor Gary Newman praised the change and firefighters.
