Finney County retools public works leadership structure
Finney County reorganizes the public works department shifting half of duties to a new road and bridge director. John Ellerman, long time county engineer, now focuses on engineering, utilities and signs while Roger Calkins, road and bridge director, oversees road and bridge, noxious weeds and the shop. County administrator Randy Partington says the change frees Ellerman to do more engineering work on projects such as road overlays and the planned biking walking trail from Southwind subdivision to Garden City. Ellerman was authorized in November to apply for a Kansas Department of Transportation program.
