Garden City invites Gorbachevs for US summit visit

Garden City Kansas plans to invite Mikhail Gorbachev and Raisa to visit during the next US Soviet summit. Attorney Duane West urged city commissioners to extend the invitation, noting regional assets such as the IBP plant near Holcomb and area farmers. The commission unanimously agreed to issue the invitation and notify the Russian embassy and US officials.

Teen center plan revised for city library building

TACT members presented a revised teen center proposal to the city commission for the library site at 7th and Chestnut. Butler plans plant sale and merger with Oswalt Rotomix group

Butler Livestock Systems seeks to sell its US 83 plant to an investor group led by Bill Pullen and Ben Neier who plan to raise 2.7 million in industrial revenue bonds to expand production from 40 workers.
