Banda's Cannabis Case Involves Son Testimony And Child Welfare
A Kansas mother Banda faced a long, contested case after her 11 year old son reported drug use at home during a school drug education program. Police seized roughly 500 grams of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia from 901 Conkling St. The boy was placed in protective custody, later returned to his father, and Banda faces arraignment with a not guilty plea possible. The case ties police drug enforcement to child protection concerns amid Banda’s bid to use cannabis medicinally.

Windsor Hotel stabilization advances in Finney County
Finney County Preservation Alliance leads stabilization of the 1887 Windsor Hotel in Garden City with temporary supports and scaffold. The project, begun nearly a year ago, aims to preserve the landmark after rot and damaged joists were found, with roof, skylights, cupola, and window work planned and funded by a state grant plus local funds and a foundation gift. The effort, costing an estimated 12 to 15 million dollars, includes raising the building six inches to reinforce main beams and will eventually allow tours five days a week once complete.
