Longer school days and four day weeks eyed by area districts

Garden City USD 457 faced a 9.5 percent budget drop and higher class sizes as state aid shrank. USD 457 boosted local option budget and cut expenses while joining a funding lawsuit push. Districts cite state aid losses totaling hundreds of millions and debate best paths to protect students.
