Medicaid cuts threaten budgets at area hospitals
Statewide 10 percent Medicaid provider cut, part of Gov. Parkinson’s budget plan, prompts several agencies including St. Catherine Hospital to anticipate major revenue losses. St. Catherine projects about $500,000 in lost reimbursements in the first half of next year, while KHPA says statewide Medicaid spending falls by roughly $12.5 million and federal reimbursements drop by about $59 million. The cuts affect more than 25,000 providers serving nearly 320,000 low income, elderly, and disabled residents.
