Death of La Familia chief Nazario Moreno shocks Michoacan
Mexican government says Nazario Moreno Gonzalez known as The Craziest One or El Chavo was killed in a midweek clash with federal police after days of gun battles in Michoacan. Three other suspected La Familia members died, five officers and three civilians were killed, and Moreno’s body had not been recovered. Authorities note La Familia’s weakened state after years of brutal confrontations and banners claiming protection of Michoacan.
