Garden City College faces higher valuation for 2007 mill levy
Garden City Community College trustees will meet Wednesday to set the mill levy at 19.201 mills, yielding about 9.12 million in tax revenue. The final county valuation stands at 475,127,875, up from preliminary 469,864,351, but still more than 30 million below 2006-07 levels. To balance funds after enrollment declines, the college cut budgets and tapped reserves, with cost centers like English and admissions trimmed about 10 percent. The board will also review the recent Kansas Association of Community College Trustees meeting in Labette and recap the fall sports season, plus consider facility agreements with The Women’s Clinic and United Methodist Mexican-American Ministries for the nursing program.
