Parking hurdle blocks Garden City Legion building plan
CSS Properties owner Carlos Gamino and his mother Candace propose converting the old American Legion building at 125 Pine St into four three bedroom two bath apartments or a mix of two and one bedroom units. Parking and zoning must be resolved before sale finalization. The city acquired the building in 2011 and the adjacent armory in 2010, with rezoning and self sustained parking required. Gamino stresses parking is the key obstacle, and unsuccessful negotiations over adjacent land hindered a parking solution.
