YMCA Dome Project Could Expand District Facilities
USD 457 eyes a shared dome with the YMCA to add space for PE and programs. The plan, reviewed by the district’s attorney, envisions YMCA use during evenings and weekends with no monetary exchange, while the district maintains parking and PE access. The $1.8 million proposal includes renovations at the current YMCA, a racquetball court, a multi purpose room, and a larger fitness area, funded by donations and a capital campaign with operation costs around $60,000 annually and minimal staff.
