Garden City eyes body worn cameras for police use
Garden City police chief James Hawkins discusses testing body worn cameras since January as White House reviews federal support for local law enforcement equipment. A proposed body camera partnership would offer a 50 percent match and up to 75 million over three years to buy about 50,000 cameras, with funds dependent on Justice guidance.

County Eyes Tougher Rules on Loose Dogs in Rural Areas
Finney County would strengthen animal control by raising fines for dogs at large and clarifying what counts as at large. The proposal targets residential areas near towns on properties under 40 acres, excluding large farms. It would set first offense fines of 100 to 500 dollars per dog, with higher penalties for subsequent violations, and adds a clearer definition of at large including tethered dogs near roads.

Highway projects to proceed despite Kansas budget shortfall
Kansas transportation officials said August announced highway projects totaling 1.2 billion dollars for 2015 and 2016 will proceed. The plan includes 116 million for the I-235 Kellogg interchange expansion in Wichita and upgrades at the Kansas Turnpike interchange. Officials caution 2017 projects depend on future budgets while Republicans push for other funding, and Democrats warn tax cuts could reduce transportation funding. The Wichita city agenda includes full T-Works funding in its coming session plan.
