Kansas Republicans to name new leaders in state House and Senate
A small GOP group in Kansas moves to replace the Senate president and House speaker as party caucuses meet. The Senate and House majorities stand at 32-8 and 92-33, respectively, shifting power rightward to back Governor Brownback’s agenda amid a projected budget shortfall and tax cuts. Conservative favorites seek leadership in both chambers, with Susan Wagle and Steve Abrams running for Senate president and Arlen Siegfried, Lance Kinzer, and Ray Merrick contending for House speaker.
