County weighs Star Bond plan and sales tax impact
Finney County commissioners and city leaders discussed using Kansas Star Bond incentives for a potential project. Chairman Larry Jones warned against overreliance on sales tax, while Garden City officials stressed the county’s share remains protected. The Star Bond would use city unobligated sales taxes and not the county’s, with no current plans to include county funds. A Star Bond district was defined spanning about 312 acres from Tangeman Sports Complex to Schulman Crossing.
