Visit Stirs Memories at Carthage Marble Corp
A California visitor, Mrs Patricia McDonald, toured Carthage Marble Corp and recalled sculptor Albert Hinz who died in 1954. Hinz created portraits and monuments in Carthage marble including a WWI soldier statue, 24 eagle carvings for Jefferson City, and a lion memorial later displayed worldwide. Mrs McDonald, now in Ontario, recalled his achievements and foster care of her since age three. The piece also notes other Missouri and national marble works and a shift to public access lakes funding and a 1970 forest fire.
