Bar Soap Faces Market Share Challenge In U S
Washington AP reports Agriculture Department experts warn that the soap and detergent market may stall unless bar soap breaks into the market. About 90 percent of soap used is bar soap, with detergents taking the rest. Shifts from fats and oils to synthetic detergents reduced fat demand and tallow use. Projections suggest tallow and oil demand could rise if fat based soaps rebound, while phosphate concerns push more toward fat-based compounds.
