Tumbleweed Festival Opens With Colorful Family Fun
The 10th annual Tumbleweed Festival drew families and colorfully painted children to the Lee Richardson Zoo west lawn on a wet brisk Saturday. Magician Scott McCray entertained kids with coin tricks as 12 year old face painters from Kenneth Henderson Middle School painted about 40 faces, with butterflies and tigers among the favorites. Local attendees praised the food offerings including roasted corn and turkey legs while sheltering under tents and noting a strong lineup of performers across three stages, including Ritmo Latino and the Whirlwind Quintet, with future acts and a color contest winners from Garden City and Satanta announced.
