Panel to press on in probe of lawmakers and court links
A bipartisan Topeka panel will continue its inquiry into contacts between legislators and the Kansas Supreme Court through the fall. Rep. Mike O'Neal said the committee would press on despite calls to disband. A court official cited no other contacts beyond a March lunch between Justice Lawton Nuss and two senators about school funding. The survey of teachers shows favorable views with concerns on time and admin support, and Minuteman Civil Defense Corps plans a Kansas chapter in Topeka September 9. State hired two new managed care contractors UniCare Health Plan of Kansas and Children’s Mercy Family Health Partners to serve about 160,000 Kansans starting Jan 1, replacing Centene/First Guard.
