Catholic lay workers win job restoration in church dispute
In Edinburg Texas four lay workers fired in a rare labor clash with the Roman Catholic Church finalized an agreement in state district court restoring their jobs and union benefits at Holy Spirit parish in McAllen. United Farm Workers attorneys and the Diocese of Brownsville announced the deal, the first negotiated with a US Catholic church. Texas UFW director Rebecca Flores hailed the breakthrough as historic for the church.
