Hormones and radiation improve prostate cancer survival
A U S study of about 200 men with nonmetastatic prostate cancer found that six months of hormone therapy combined with seven weeks of daily radiation reduced prostate cancer deaths to zero versus six deaths in the radiation-only group over nearly five years. Recurrence was higher with radiation alone, 46 cases versus 21 with combined treatment.
