Cheyenne Bottoms Becomes Shorebird Oasis This Spring
Thousands of visitors flock to Cheyenne Bottoms and nearby Quivira National Wildlife Refuge in Kansas each spring to view shorebirds on mudflats. Managers report historic numbers, with more than 150,000 counted lately, and note the area as a major Central Flyway stopover. The event blends birding with education as crowds learn about migration and enjoy guided activities ending at Camp Aldrich.
