Eustachy Caught At Party Photos Stir Student Controversy
Iowa State coach Larry Eustachy admitted drinking influenced his conduct at a Missouri student party where he was photographed with a beer can and kissing women on the cheek after a loss to Missouri. Des Moines Register photos and reports also describe similar behavior at Kansas State events. University officials, including athletic director Bruce Van De Velde, said they would address the matter and consider disciplinary action.

Broncs rally as Schiffelbein shuts down Wildcats in comeback
Elkhart led 13 to 1 in game one, then Lakin fought back in game two. Kyle Schiffelbein relieved and held Elkhart to one run on three hits, sparking a sixth inning rally with two errors by Lakin and a Calkins’ scoring grounder. Coach Darrin Ashworth lamented bats and momentum, while Nicho Davidson noted pressure on defense can spark errors. Elkhart outpaced Lakin 5 to 4 in game two after Schiffelbein’s late relief, with Custer and Fisher solid on defense.

Diversity in Pro and College Sports Slips in Hiring
A study released Monday shows women and minorities losing ground in pro and college sports hiring, reversing a trend toward diversity. Every professional sport posted lower averages for employing women than in the last report, while minority hires slipped in pro and college sports. Richard Lapehick, sports sociologist and author, notes progress is slow. Only baseball, the NBA, and NHL improved minority hiring since 2001.
