King hired as legal counsel to aid Kansas school finance case
A legislative panel voted 5-2 along party lines to hire former Senator Jeff King as legal counsel in response to the Kansas Supreme Court order on school finance. Critics questioned political bias, but supporters cited his expertise in education funding litigation and prior Montoy case work for the state. King's aim is to document proceedings so the court understands the legislature's chosen approach to Gannon v Kansas.
