Lawmakers weigh limits on local tax breaks in Kansas Senate
Kansas Senate advanced SB 146 to curb local abatements offered to firms as incentives arguing such tax breaks suppress school funding. Lawmakers cited a 6 percent yearly growth in abatements and noted the plan would affect the state mandated 20 mill levy for schools while preserving existing abatements. Local governments would keep incentives on other taxes.
