Anton Kuhl hosted a housewarming on the Turnpike with Berry and Kemlers orchestra keeping time.

Release of Joliet prisoner ends in tragic motive

George Inglesby, a 23 year old Joliet parolee, hoped to see his dead mother. After learning she died, he aimed to exhum her body but was arrested in Chicago. He was later released to accompany his sister home, amid a confusing sequence that ended with his brief liberty in custody.

Child Dies From Morphine Poisoning In Ridott Township

A fourteen month old girl, Lucretia Weik, died of morphine poisoning last Saturday afternoon. An inquest heard testimony from the mother, a servant, and doctors who treated the child after she reportedly swallowed three or four red tablets. The coroner’s jury concluded the death resulted from morphine poisoning, noting multiple similar cases in two months.

The Canadian Concert Company performed to over five hundred at the First M E Church with praise from L B Weeks. Thomson reports the watermelon season winding down with 246 carloads shipped plus local sales and an overall crop near 300 cars.

Hazel Green Gazette Sold to Tribune Publishing Co

The Hazel Green Gazette has been purchased by Tribune Publishing Co along with editor Williame and all types and presses. The 1783 subscriber list will be transferred to the Tribune, expanding reach in Hazel Green and surrounding areas. An Hazel Green correspondent will cover district news.
