Death by own action shocks Rockford resident barber Thaddeus Hitt
A Rockford man Thaddeus N Hitt died after shooting himself in the stomach while his revolver lay beside him on a street and he lay unconscious on North Second street. He had earlier attempted to take his life by breathing gas. The deceased son of Leslie Hitt of Benton street was associated in the barber business on South Main street with John Bane. His remains were taken to Elizabeth Illinois for interment alongside his mother. Reverend Holt accompanied the father and conducted services in Elizabeth. He had long shown gloom and suspected insanity. The incident was witnessed by Motorman Wilson of the incoming 40 oclock R B and J Interurban car and Frank Burbank who identified him. He died about an hour after reaching the City Hospital.

Death of John Haas in Galena after months of illness
John Haas, a Galena resident born August 27, 1856, died at his hilltop home after several months of illness. Unmarried, he lived with his parents and left behind three brothers and two sisters. Funeral set for Friday at 2 30 p m from the family residence with Rev Hertel officiating. burial in Greenwood.
