Memorial Day at Woodmen Postponed for Carnival

The Woodmen of this city postpone Memorial Day services to Saturday June 8 due to carnival and Woodmen picnic at Freeport. About twenty members lie buried here and will be honored with graves decorated. Royal Neighbors will assist. a parade to the cemetery and speeches are planned with music.

Freeport Split Sees Moriarity Fined in Oshkosh Tilt

Moriarity manager of the Freeport team was fined ten dollars and removed for abusing the umpire after a 5 to 2 Oshkosh game. Freeport remains tied for first with La Crosse while Dyersville prepares for a Sunday visit. Almost $200 was raised at a Freeport Elks versus Knights of Columbus game with Billy Sunday in center field. proceeds go to St Francis and Globe hospitals and the King’s Daughters’ Settlement.

Hobo demands can at livery barn then buys tin pail

A hobo tired from a long fast roamed the city seeking beer in a can. He found no can at McKague's ivory barn and grew indignant. He bought a large tin pail for a dime, then filled it at a nearby saloon and carried it away in a shed before heading toward the railroad yards.
