The House approved the Shurtleff bill on its third reading by 84 to 56 with three Republicans joining Democrats against it. The emergency clause was dropped. Brenton Wisconsin May 8 28 feet from the surface the old Etox mine east of Benton reveals five feet of ore at a depth of 28 feet on an east west range. The ore body 26 feet wide is thought to extend nearly a mile along the range by veteran miners. The mine has yielded thousands of tons of lead ore in recent years with drilling across the property seeking the heaviest bodies.
