Mrs Philip Ryan a longtime Menominee resident and Jo Daviess county pioneer died Thursday morning at age 80. Born Catharine Sheehan in 1833 in Boston Massachusetts she lived in Menominee nearly seventy years and was beloved by family neighbors and parishioners. She is survived by eight children including Philip Andrew William James Thomas B David and Mrs James Powers Jr and Mrs Cullen. Funeral Mass was held Saturday at St Marys Catholic church in Menominee with interment in the local cemetery.

Milwaukee May 3 E F Strauss principal witness for the state in the case of Supervisor A B Greene of North Milwaukee charged with accepting a bribe testified that twenty one supervisors divided among them the 2500 given by Architect Lotter for adopting his plans. He could name ten others besides himself and said offers ranged 1500 to 2000. Strauss said he met Lotter at his house to arrange the deal. He added that some supervisors received 50 while others stood out for 150.
