A jumble of notices cites wanted goods and services, marriages, licenses, a fire alarm, a Dubuque baseball game report, public works on the High School site, and European light later on. Includes a baby tonic ad and a note on midnight twilight near Paris.
Early Saturday morning two men were found in a shed behind Hubbard Furniture by watchman Lawrence. They built a fire and refused to extinguish it. one escaped as officers arrived, the other was arrested and later released. Authorities believe an incendiary attempt aimed to destroy lumber and sheds surrounding the factory was thwarted.
Joseph F. Worsely died in Mendota leaving a $113 765.73 estate to be divided equally among his brother John O. Worsley and sisters Amanda E. and Sarah Worsley. The sisters refuse their share preferring the brother handle all, saying he is capable and it would burden them less. The estate remains under court adjustment.
Five new members were installed in the City Council with Mayor Charles Scheerer delivering a formal address. He urged duty to the public, adherence to ordinances, and harmonious work for the city’s good, outlining plans for street, utility, and park improvements, and calling for support of local industry in Galena.

John McFadden of Scales Mound was in Galena as a visitor on Monday. Several residents and guests from Dubuque, Stockton, Hazel Green, Freeport, Lan caster and Minneapolis traveled or visited during the period. Notables include Judge Wm. Sodesley returning from Winona after his cousin Thomas Simpson's death. various moves and travel among area families and officials.
Captain W A Thompson stated that only government work on the river now is placing buoys on wing dam ends. About a hundred buoys are set each spring but are often stolen by steamboats or rust loose. Oil barrels are used for buoy purpose and bought by the government from city stores then waterproofed.
