City of Shullsburg Named for Early Settlers and Miners

Eagles Go to Platteville Lodge Will Be Organized There This Evening

Officers of the local Eagles and the working team depart at noon today over the Northwestern for Platteville Wisconsin where they will assist in organizing a lodge this evening. The gathering is expected to be strong with about a dozen prominent Eagles of the city attending. A banquet will follow the work and many visitors will be present. The Galena party will return tomorrow morning.

Hail In Wisconsin Destructive Bloomington Storm Hits Farms

A severe hail storm passed over farms near Bloomington Wisconsin at 5 30 PM destroying crops and breaking windows. The hail depth reached two inches on the ground and covered a wide swath several miles long. The storm follows another on Monday, causing thousands of dollars in crop damage with little crop insurance.

Fishermen Henry and Frank Hire Arrested Near Menominee

Sheriff Whitmore arrested Henry and Frank Hire near Menominee on illegal fishing charges. They were brought to the city, given a hearing before Justice Clark, and the case was continued. Frank Tapley of Menominee initiated the arrest after witnessing the fishing activity.

Henry L Ober Miller, a Sterling native and former Galena resident, married Miss Emily P Washburn yesterday in Sterling Illinois. Ober Miller, brother of William Ober Miller of this city, once operated businesses with his brother in Cuba City and here before moving to Sterling five years ago to open a clothing store. His many friends here extend congratulations. Sterling silverware and cut glass advertised at Coatsworths jewelry store with solid sterling silver teaspoons at 45 cents each.

Warranted Arrest After Lake Fishing Run In Thirty Pound Catch

Sheriff Whitmore arrested two brothers after they were seen fishing at a lake with a net and about thirty pounds of game fish. Although the net mesh was lawful, the men are held for taking game fish, a protected act. Hearing concluded and continued to Monday. both have prior court history on similar charges.

In Platteville Wisconsin Angio Stover age 8 and Gard Gardner receiving injuries Thursday afternoon after placing a firecracker in a gasoline can and it exploded. The Stover boy suffered broken legs and Gardner was injured in the face.

The Y M C A young men from Ice cave camp return home after ten pleasant days. L L McDonald state worker visited the camp Tuesday night and plans district outings. Young Mother Dies in Galena After Childbirth

Mrs. Sarah Blackmer, a well known Galena resident born in Dakota, died last night at 6 o clock at her parents home on Franklin street two days after giving birth to a son. She and her husband had lived in Oelwein Iowa before returning to Galena. Funeral services will be held at 2 30 o clock Saturday morning at the family home.

Lightning strikes hill residence during storm near death

Mrs. Harry Bunger living on the hill was in a stormy window closing effort when a lightning bolt struck the house. The bolt flashed through the window burning the hall near her bed. She escaped serious harm but was greatly frightened.
