Farmers Are Robbed in Pleasant Valley

In Savanna Illinois on June 13 two robberies occurred in Pleasant Valley. B J Reed lost 75 dollars and John Shambarger lost 110 dollars while the family milking and while selling hogs. No clues for the robbers are found.

Galena Man Weds Canton Woman In May Ceremony

Bert Furry of Galena and Nellie Small of Canton Ill wed at the Small home on South Fifth Ave. May 27 in a small ceremony conducted by Rev. Rees of the South Park M. P. Church. The couple will reside in Canton and are supported by friends and relatives from Galesburg Beardstown and Chicago.

Beautiful Galena High School Building Construction Details

The new high school building in Galena will feature Marquette Rain drop sand stone for base and steps, Portage Red stone ashlar, and Twin City pressed brick No 912. Contract completion is required by January 15, 1906 with a 10 per day fine for delays. 85 percent of the contract price will be paid on architect’s certificate and 15 percent on completion. 50 percent bond was required after bid acceptance. Samples of brick and stone are displayed in the Biesman Cigar Factory window.

Vetrees of Bushnell Illinois a member of the third class at the Naval Academy drowned this afternoon while swimming from the cruiser Newark near Hackett's Point about seven miles above Annapolis He was 21 years old and efforts to recover the body were under way via wireless report from Annapolis Maryland.

Excursions to Chicago Draw Large Sioux City Crowd

The Illinois Central will run an excursion from Sioux City and western points to Chicago next Saturday. Over four thousand Sioux Cityans will pass through Galena on the trip. Departures are scheduled for 9 30 a m and 4 20 p m with six ordinary cars and twenty sleepers planned to carry about 3 000 in regular cars and twenty sleepers.

Francis Crawford of Flatteville was sentenced to the Wisconsin penitentiary at Waupun by Judge Clemenston for killing his illegitimate child. The sister-in-law and mother were discharged. Crawford’s wife and six children face hardship as his 96-year-old father is sent to the poor farm. the condemned man’s family did not acknowledge him amid damning testimony about the home and fear of death.

Grant Birthday Association Holds Meeting and Elections
