A Galena dispatch claims the Burdettes beat Freeport’s league team at season start, but the report is disputed as the teams never met. Galena’s squad is a strong semi professional nine. Alleged Slayers Caught in Trenton Cabin Chase

Arthur and William Spaugh, charged with killing Sheriff Polk of Tron County, were captured after the posse stormed a cabin ten miles northeast of Trenton. Arthur Spaugh was shot in the arm during the ensuing struggle. Roy Emsley, a fireman on the Illinois Central Dubuque division, was injured when a water glass shattered and a fragment struck his left eye, possibly costing him the eye. he returned home to Dubuque.

Remains of Homer Barnes to be moved for burial

Mrs Hannah Mann dies after tumor near the heart at her daughter’s home in Coeur d Alene Idaho. Born in England 1880 she traveled to America in 1835 with family, lived in Wisconsin and Platteville then moved to Idaho. She married Anthony Mann in 1849 who died October 7 1895. Burial occurred May 22 beside her husband. Foundation work at Berry Feed Store and cement walk planned on upper Main Street.
